It has occurred to me that the Rev. Wright does not want Obama to succeed.  Maybe he's a little miffed at Obama for backing away from him, but I don't think that is the reason he doesn't want him to win the election.  I think that the Reverend NEEDS him to lose so that he can continue to preach about how the "white man" has kept the African American population down.  After all, isn't it common for black leaders to condemn any black person who has actually been successful, calling them traitors to their black identity?  Look at how some talk about Bill Cosby.  When I was younger, I used to blame every misfortune and setback on my childhood.  One day, someone told me "you know, maybe it's time you stopped blaming your past for every present misfortune and start fixing it.  That was an epiphany, and it worked.  So someone like Bill Cosby tries to tell black youth that they have to forget the past and start living with the potential that the future offers and they condemn him.  How dare he, how dare Obama, rise above their race and succeed?

 

Wright will no doubt blame all white people for not electing the first black president if Obama loses to McCain, but that would probably suit him just fine.  It will add more fuel to his sermons of hate and racial injustice. 

 

Just when you think Americans are starting to look past race when they elect someon to office, along comes Wright to remind us of the color of our skin.
